We are Javier Antar and Patricie Porakova, two dancers in constant search of the “unattainable perfection”. Seeking the most accurate dance connexion technique and the best teaching method, we are in permanent observation of our own intuitive and conscious dance: Our aim is to understand it and teach it. Our first achievement together are our advanced students in the Czech Republic, in particular those who have come with us to Buenos Aires one or more times.
Javier started dancing tango in 1996 in Buenos Aires, where he took many lessons with many different teachers. In 1998 he met Gustavo Naveira and became one of his few students at that time. Together with a profound and solid technical knowledge of improvisation, very soon he understood the importance of conscious practice. Developing this part of the dance has become one of his greater basis. This allowed him to discover his own natural approach to tango that led him to find his own personal style, thus making him advance much faster as a dancer and be much more efficient as a teacher. As a result, tango schools and festivals around the planet have asked for his help during the last 15 years. Tangonexion is the name he gave to his tango teaching method, which he keeps sharing everywhere he goes, but since 2015 he’s officially based in Prague (Czech Republic).
Patricie is a natural born dancer who has danced many dance styles since her childhood. She’s studied in Barcelona – Jaques Lecoq body poetry, and for many years she was an important member of “Farm in the Cave” and “Spitfire”, worldwide known dance companies of physical theatre from the Czech Republic. Besides Europe, she has worked in Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, and Peru, although tango has been her main activity since 2004. In 2011 Patricie was nominated for the Dancer of the year award. Her first work as a tango-theatre director was Quilombo. In 2010 she became a full time tango dancer and resident of Buenos Aires. This gave her an important recognition among the local community of tangueros and she was regularly invited for consultations and cooperation in closed groups of professional dancers.
I have many roles in my life. I chose most of them based on how the area or activity attracted me. And there belongs also my latest role – a dancer of the Argentinean tango! It was (of course) „coincidence“ when I met the tango argentino in June 2013. And it was love at first glance! Since then, I have been trying to improve my dance skills. I went through more schools, courses and seminars. I am and will always be grateful to all my teachers for their care and the experience they have given to me. Now I am a student of school of Javier Antar and Patricia Poráková – Tangonexion. I have experienced the biggest, almost transformative shift after Buenos Aires in the intensive and truly nourishing programs of Tangonexion – Nourishing and Deepening Tango Expedition. My perception of these stays – they are immersions in “other reality” – into the world of tango at a very high level. After your return, your tango will change forever. Argentine tango is a very important source of joy, growth, inspiration, and amazing experiences for me at the current stage of my life. Thanks to it, I have met and I`m still meeting a lot of interesting people and places in the Czech Republic and abroad. I wish everyone to experience the joy associated with the life of tanguero/tanguera. That’s why, feeling very honored, I accepted the offer to teach new tango people at the Tangonexion School. If you decide for our school, I will be happy to support you too.
Dance in various forms and styles has been my companion for 17 years, so I can say that I have been dancing for almost half of my life. The first love for me was flamenco, which I studied over 12 years in Prague and later also in its cradle in Andalucia. I also learned basics of salsa and ballet, but some years ago I was attracted by Argentine tango with its elegance, concentrated calmness and radiating emotions. It teaches me honesty and truthfulness in dancing. Extent connection and listening to my dance partner and mutual close cooperation in a couple is for me absolutely crucial – tango is created by both dancers and one dancer without the other one can’t manage anything. Only with mutual understanding and support can be achieved complete the tango sensation….of course with some good knowledge of dance technique and tango experience. With both of these I am happy to advise you on our tango lessons and the Deepening and Metamorphosis expeditions to BA. So that your tango can express your personality and connect movement with what you are, what you feel and what you are experiencing. That is a great uniqueness and charm of tango.
Tango is a dialogue, following the present moment – music, communication in the couple. The conceptual and technical aproach of Javi and Patri is great for me. Tango is happy for me to understand at a non-intellectual level. I don’t have to analyze, and it’s wonderful that this depth / understanding / blending arises. Movement is joyful. I was years “in my head”. Reason and analysis were dogma to me. Then through salsa and bachata I got to the Brazilian Zouk. It was the first dance with an internal connection with a partner. Later on, my tango journey started and I went through a catharsis attending Patri’s and Javi’s lessons and my two times in Buenos Aires, the tango cradle. Getting to live tango in Buenos Aires was critically beneficial, meeting there its origins. The principle of movement and tango arises. Patri and Javi have led me to use motion visualization, working with elements of contact improvisation. Tango changed my life in perception of emotions, respecting the freedom of the other person, confidence in improvisation, live in the present moment more than in a planned schedule. Tangonexion made me respect and listen more my partner, much deeper tan I expected. At the end, Tango is the way of self-knowledge, understanding that the external movement is the result of our movement from within. And it is valuable to me, not to make the move from outside to be seen, but to our common dance, for our couple. The movement from inside and the connection is what tangonexion is for me: it goes all the way to the essence of this dance. These thoughts, joy, movement, I want to pass on to you. Welcome – Namaste
Since 1994 I have danced Street Dance, Salsa (cubana, LA), Afro Dance, Zouk and West Coast Swing among other various dances in which I had less experience. Tango Argentino is one of the “recent” dances I was intoduced to but defenitely the one I got touched by the most. I started in course for begginers within Tangueros dance School in Brno, lead by David Lang. Soon after I attented various workshops and courses of Argentinean tango in neighbour countries and finaly Argentina – Buenos Aires. Learning and dancing tango is a whole life process. I keep enriching my skills, technique and style by attending workshops, retreats world wide and by regular trips to Bs As. Meeting Patricia and Javier Antar significantly shaped my tango. I got to know about Tangonexion, the technique that fits me the most so far; mainly due to ability to share the pleasure of natural movement with no limits regarding age, nationality, etc… it’s a real universal Tango language! Another dimension opened for me in February 2017 when I joined “Tangonexion net” and became one of the assistants within Tangonexion dance school in Czech Rep. Coming back full of new experiences, knowledge and enthusiasm after last trip to BsAs – DEEPENING BsAs 2017 – intense program to study tango with local teachers in native conditions, made me to open door to the most adventurous part of my tango journey where I can share everything I have obtained so far and love so much 😉
